💬 Catalyst Destination Wedding FAQ
Real Questions. Clear Answers. No Guesswork.

❓ GENERAL PLANNING QUESTIONS
Do you charge for the consultation?
Yes. Our initial Destination Wedding Consultation is $50, a reduced rate from our standard $100. This covers:
• A pre-appointment planning form to help us understand your vision
• A personalized 30-minute phone or Zoom call with a certified Destination Wedding Specialist
• A follow-up summary and proposal with suggested locations and packages

Do we need to know exactly what we want before the consult?
Not at all. That’s what we’re here for! We’ll walk you through options, help you weigh the pros and cons of different destinations, and guide you toward what fits your priorities.

What kinds of weddings do you plan?
• All-Inclusive Resort Weddings
• Cruise Ship Weddings (at sea or at port)
• Bespoke, fully-custom weddings (like villas in Italy or estates in Napa)

💸 BUDGET & PAYMENT QUESTIONS

How much does a destination wedding cost?
It depends on your destination, wedding style, number of guests, and who is covering travel. Here are sample couple budgets:

  • All-Inclusive Resort Wedding (Couple only): $7K–$12K
  • Cruise Wedding (Couple only): $5.5K–$9K
  • Bespoke Villa Wedding: $35K–$60K (can exceed $100K if covering guests)
How much do guests typically pay for themselves?
• All-Inclusive Resort: $1,200–$1,900 per guest
• Cruise: $950–$1,500 per guest
• Bespoke/Villa: $2,500–$4,500 per guest
We coordinate all guest travel and offer flexible payment plans when possible.

Do we have to pay for our guests?
No, not usually. Most couples pay for themselves and the wedding itself, and guests cover their own flights and accommodations. If you’d like to contribute toward guest travel or rooms, we’ll help manage that within your budget.

Can guests pay in installments?
Often, yes! Many resorts and cruise lines offer payment plans. We’ll manage the booking links, reminders, and timelines so your guests can pay over time.

🧭 PLANNING PROCESS & LOGISTICS

Do we work with a wedding planner?
• All-Inclusive & Cruise Weddings: We work directly with the resort or cruise line’s on-site wedding coordinator.
• Bespoke Weddings: We match you with a local wedding planner who either travels with you or is based in your destination. We manage all travel and guest logistics; they focus on wedding-day design and execution.

Do we have to coordinate guest bookings ourselves?
Nope! That’s our job. We create a dedicated travel page or booking link for your group, handle the contracts, track RSVP logistics, and provide guest support throughout.

Can we customize the trip or add extra experiences?
Yes! We’ll suggest excursions, farewell brunches, spa days, wine tastings, and more based on your vibe. From mariachi bands in Mexico to pasta-making in Tuscany—we love adding flavor.

🛂 TRAVEL & LEGAL STUFF

Is the wedding legally binding?
• Most destinations offer both legal and symbolic ceremonies. Legal weddings may require extra paperwork, blood tests, or a waiting period.
• Many couples opt for a symbolic wedding abroad and complete the legal paperwork at home to keep it simple.

Do we need passports?

Yes, for international destinations. We’ll guide you and your guests on travel requirements, including passports, visas (if applicable), and entry/health protocols.

What if we have guests with accessibility needs or mobility concerns?
We take those seriously. We’ll make sure your location, room options, excursions, and transfers are accessible and safe for all ages and mobility levels.

❤️ WEDDING DAY & BEYOND

Do we get to honeymoon right after the wedding?
Absolutely. Most of our couples build in at least 2–4 days post-wedding to relax. We’ll ensure your room upgrades, spa packages, or local tours are reserved in advance.

Can we include extra events (welcome party, farewell brunch, etc.)?
Yes. Most of our weddings are 3–4 day experiences with multiple events. We’ll help you plan the schedule so it’s smooth and memorable without being overwhelming.

Can we bring our own photographer, officiant, or DJ?
Depending on the venue or cruise line, outside vendors may require approval or vendor fees. We’ll walk you through the rules—and also recommend trusted local partners if you prefer.
